The campus card is for access control, using printers, or borrowing books from the library. It is an indispensable part of your campus life.

What are the types of campus cards?
- Student Card: for students enrolled in the University, including undergraduates and postgraduates.
- Staff Card: for full-time staff.
- Affiliated Unit Employee Card: for full-time employees of affiliated units.
- Family Card: for the families of full-time staff.
- Property Management Staff Card: for property management staff.
- Visitor Card: for visiting scholars, visitors, and vendors.
What is the difference between a temporary campus card and a student card or staff card?
- Temporary campus cards are all campus cards other than student cards and staff cards, including affiliated unit employee cards, family cards, property cards, and visitor cards.
- Temporary campus cards must be applied for and extended by a designated card specialist. Application entrance: MyPortal > Temporary Campus Card.
- Student cards and staff cards are valid during the school/employment period. The validity period of temporary campus cards is based on the actual need for, access of the Univesity, up to one year, and can be extended.
- Other functions are the same as student cards and staff cards, with access to the University, passage through on-campus access control, on-campus consumption, and identity recognition.
How to apply for a campus card?
- Student cards are processed for new students upon enrollment, or the student can apply at the Campus Card Service Center with the proof of enrollment and a valid ID card.
- Staff cards must be applied for in person at the Campus Card Service Center with a stamped employment form from the University Human Resources Department and a valid ID card.
- Temporary campus cards are applied for by designated card users in MyPortal. After approval, the applicant or the person on behalf can apply at the Campus Card Service Center with the approval form and a valid ID card.
How to use a campus card to enter/exit a place with an access control system?
At the gate, channel door, building door, and room door equipped with access control, hold the campus card close to the access control sensor. For authorized campus cards, the sensor will emit a “beep” and the green light will be on, then it opens the electric lock. For unauthorized cards, the sensor will sound an alarm and the red light will be on.
When must a campus card be used?
- To enter the University gate. Swipe on the sensor at the pedestrian gate to automatically open the door to enter the University.
- To take the shuttle bus. Swipe the card for identity verification when boarding the bus.
- To borrow books. Swipe the card at the self-service borrowing and returning machine.
- For on-campus access control. Only campus cards with access control authorization can open the doors of various classrooms and offices on campus.
When can a campus card not be used?
- For on-campus consumption. Online payments can be made with WeChat or Alipay.
- For printing. Cloud printing can be used with a CUHK(SZ) account.
- For entering and exiting colleges and libraries. Facial recognition can be used to enter and exit colleges and libraries.
How to print and copy?
Self-service printing, copying, and scanning machines are set up in the library, colleges, and teaching buildings. Swipe the card or scan the WeChat QR code on the printer to use the equipment. The printing system will automatically deduct fees based on the printing or copying. Therefore, please recharge before using the cloud printing service to ensure that the account has enough balance; any unused balance within a year can be refunded through WeChat.

How to use a campus card for consumption?
The campus card can be used for payment at canteens, supermarkets, cafes, barber shops, and other places equipped with consumption POS machines. When making a payment, follow these steps:
First, confirm whether the amount displayed on the POS machine screen is correct;
Then hold the campus card close to the POS sensor area for about one second. When you hear the POS prompt “beep”, it means the consumption is successful. Please confirm the displayed consumption amount and balance on the POS screen (campus card). The transaction is completed. If the swipe is unsuccessful, the consumption terminal will beep continuously. At this time, holding the card close can complete the consumption.
Why can’t my campus card be used normally?
Swipe prompt “Invalid Card”: The card has expired. Please renew it as soon as possible.
Swipe without response: The card has been demagnetized. Please go to the Campus Card Service Center to rewrite or replace the card as soon as possible.
Swipe does not open the door: Please confirm if you have permission.
Access Control Permission Application: MyPortal > IT Services > Access Control.
Cannot swipe off-campus buses: If you are taking an off-campus bus, please apply to the ASO first. The ASO will notify us to open the permission. ITSO does not accept applications directly sent by users without the approval of ASO.
How to deal with a campus card that can’t be used normally?
Go to the Campus Card Service Center as soon as possible for processing. We will check or repair your campus card. If the repair is successful, your campus card can continue to be used; if it is seriously damaged and cannot be repaired, you will need to replace it with a new card, and the amount on the old card will be transferred directly to the new card.
What to do if the campus card is lost or found?
If the campus card is lost, you should report it lost in time to ensure personal property safety. After the campus card is found, you need to perform an unlock operation to restore the use of the campus card. If the lost campus card cannot be found, please bring your valid ID card- to Campus Card Service Center to apply for a new card.
Four methods of reporting loss/unlock:
- Method 1: Report loss/unlock through the WeChat public account (CUHK-Shenzhen ITSO) or Wecom;
- Method 2: Report loss/unlock with a valid ID card at the Campus Card Service Center;
- Method 3: Report loss/unlock through the “Campus Card” menu on the self-service top-up machine on campus;
- Method 4: Report loss/unlock by logging into the campus card portal (click here) and enter your query password for self-service report loss/unlock.
*Note: If you have already applied for a new campus card before finding the lost one, the lost campus card will be disabled.
How to protect the campus card?
To avoid physical damage and demagnetization, please keep the campus card in a card case.
*Note: Do not put the bank card and campus card together in the card case to avoid interference.
How to recharge the campus card?
Method 1: Use the self-service top-up machine on campus to recharge the campus card;
Method 2: Use the Alipay APP on your mobile phone to recharge the campus card. Enter the Alipay APP, select the "More" menu, select "Education and Public Welfare" -> "Campus Work", select "Campus Card", click "Recharge Now", select your University, enter your name, student number, and recharge amount. After confirming the recharge, enter your Alipay payment password to complete the recharge.
Method 3: Follow the ITSO WeChat account and enter the “Campus Card” WeChat recharge in the personal center.
*Warm reminder: After recharging with Alipay and WeChat, swipe the card on the consumption machine or click "Query" on the top-up machine, then click "Subsidy Collection" to synchronize the recharge amount to the card.
How to change the query password and consumption password of the campus card?
The query password is used for self-service inquiry, recharge, loss report, unlock, and top-up operations; the consumption password is used when the daily consumption amount exceeds 200 yuan (the default consumption limit of the system).
*Note: Since the initial query password and consumption password are the last six digits of the ID number (remove the x at the end if it is x), please change your campus card personal password immediately after receiving the new campus card.
You can modify your password through the self-service top-up machine or enter the campus card portal (click here) for self-service modification, or go to the Campus Card Service Center to modify the password.
What to do if you forget the campus card password?
Go to the Campus Card Service Center with your valid ID card and campus card for reset.
How to modify the (spending cap)?
The default (spending cap) per meal for the campus card is 200 yuan. If you need to modify this limit, you can do it in the campus card menu on the self-service top-up machine.
How to check account balance and transaction history?
Check your account balance or transaction history through the following three methods:
Method 1: Use a personal valid ID card and campus card at the Campus Card Service Center;
Method 2: Self-service inquiry through the top-up machine;
Method 3: Self-service inquiry by logging into the campus card portal;
Method 4: Follow the ITSO WeChat account and self-service inquiry in the “Campus Card” of the personal center.
*Warm reminder: To ensure the security of your account, you need to enter a password when inquiring on the top-up machine or the website. After inquiring on the top-up machine, please take the campus card away in time.
How to bind a bank card?
Bind your bank card in the following two ways:
Method 1: Bring valid documents (student ID or identity card) to the campus card service center for the bank card binding service;
Method 2: Self-service at the top-up machine on campus;
Where is the campus card service center located?
The campus card service center is located on the LG Floor between the Teaching Building D and the Student Center, next to the bookstore, and operates jointly with CITIC Bank.
Where are the top-up machines distributed on campus?
